Daedalus by Likeadeuce (PG)

Hello again! It seems that I am driving the Marvel Crack Van this month. I debated whether I had a "theme" I could offer and finally concluded that I really didn't. This will be a mixture of Marvel comics, Marvel movies, and some that include quite a bit of both. I hope to span several Marvel fandoms, hitting all the "biggies" as I go. I hope you enjoy the ride!

Fandom: MARVEL COMICS: Captain America & Iron Man
Title: Daedalus

Why this must be read:

Author's Notes: Takes place during Volume 1 of Avengers, soon after Cap comes out of the ice. I'm using the quasi-canon out of some backup story that Tony put Steve up in a townhouse; and though these things aren't ever clear in the Silver Age, I'm assuming that Tony knows Cap's civilian identity, but not vice versa.

If you're not overly familiar with either man, don't worry too much. This fic does an excellent job of introducing them, individually, and them as friends. Plus, there is a rich, deep history here, and [livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce takes her time in showing it to us, so that we don't miss a thing.

This is the first story I really read with Captain America and Iron Man (Steve and Tony), and I'm so glad. It sets up everything to come with a perfect mixture of bitter insight and hope.

"Haven't you slept enough? And you call yourself a soldier!"

Steve blinks against the light, thinking that this government scientist, this man who has come from no one-asks-where to perform unexplained tests of the super soldier's strength and endurance, sounds oddly jovial.

In the next instant, Steve is fully awake. Ahead of him, standing next to the bedroom window with a hand on the blinds, the smirking figure of Tony Stark resolves into view. "Morning, sunshine," Tony says.
