Why this must be read:

Maybe it's an 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' thing, but there seems to be more Kevin fic around nowadays. Quite right too, given the devastatingly-handsomeness of the subject.

Anyway. This is an AU written for MTYG 2008, in which Justin is an earnest young student who works for Kirkpatrick Kars, selling ideologically sound, environmentally friendly vehicles. Kevin Richardson runs into Justin at an expo, and despite Kevin's better judgment, he can't help but follow up on the attraction.

Kevin's calm, reasonable and a little bit cynical, Justin is innocent and sincere, and Chris is the sort of person who does the sweetest things in the way that makes their beneficiaries want to kill him. Which works for me.

“I think we can land Chasez Construction,” Lance said in their Monday morning meeting, shoving Kevin’s large black coffee – always in the signature Caribou Coffee mug – across the table.

“No thanks to you, I might add. You spent half an hour at the car dealership booth.”

“Well, they have a bunch of hybrids there, the best of the best, and you know I’ve been looking-.”

Lance snorted. “You were looking, all right, but it wasn’t at the cars.”

“Okay, so he was cute, but-.”

“Jailbait?”

“Not quite, though his boss did warn me not to buy him a drink.”

“Oh, that’s just classic Kirkpatrick,” Lance said, chuckling. “He did it more to embarrass Justin than you, I can guarantee it.”

“Wait, you know him?”

“I dated him.”

Kevin tried to suppress the completely irrational flash of anger that thought evoked, Justin and Lance, golden and gorgeous…

“But Chris doesn’t take anything seriously, really, so.” Lance made a face. “You can see why it didn’t last.”
