Why this must be read: Kary burst into the popslash fandom towards the middle of last year, and it's been for the better! She has a way with words that makes you grin like a fool when you read her fic!
When they’re finally gone, Nick collapses on the couch and groans. It's not a question of how much they love their kids but more of a statement of how tired they are. They are so tired, so wiped out, that this break is just a tiny sliver of peace that they needed very much.
“Come on, let’s go to bed,” Brian says, tugging on Nick’s arm.
“Go‘way. I’sleep now.”
Nick’s legs are hanging off the couch, long and muscular and too big for the couch, he’d have to fold them to fit. Brian knows it can’t be comfortable because Nick loves to stretch out when he sleeps. Brian pulls on Nick’s arm and says, “Nickolas Gene Carter-Littrell, up!”
It’s hard to sound stern when Nick looks so sweet and innocent and perfect and shining and tired, very, very tired.
