Why this must be read:
I have a problem with a lot of Shawn/Gus fic. Mostly because while I can see Shawn totally going for it, in an awkward but heartfelt way, I have a hard time imagining Gus going along with it without *some* kind of freakout. (Let's face it, Gus screams at just seeing a naked man).
That being said, Gus loves Shawn. Gus *clearly* loves Shawn. Gus loves Shawn despite every bit of brains and sense of self-preservation he has, despite even his well-honed instinct to run. Gus stays, and is stable, for Shawn. So when I do imagine them together (after that inevitable Gus panic) I like to picture lots of fluffy, coming home type fics.
This story is exactly that. Sweet and little painful, but overall just filled with a lovely sense of trust between the two of them. They can still banter and bicker even during a real;ly awkward morning after.
"What, like you never expected to wake up together after a bender at some point in our friendship."
"No, I can't say I did. That you did worries me."
Shawn didn't appreciate the suspicious look Gus was giving him.
So. Cute.
