Why this must be read:
Arthur finding out Merlin's secret is a common theme in Merlin fic, and this is a fantastic take on it. The structure of this story is great, the way it gives a lot of action and character development in a small space, but most of all, I love how well the emotions come across. It's written from Merlin's POV, but Arthur's hurt and confusion come across just as strongly as Merlin's. The way that they navigate the complicated space between them is deftly and touchingly drawn. It's a true pleasure to read.
