I don't have a livejournal account, so I can't respond to you personally, but I wanted to thank you for posting your wonderful story. I've only been reading Due South fanfic a short time, but one thing I did notice in your story is that the love and respect you have for both Rays and Fraser came though strongly.
Many stories I've read tend to marginalize the loving relationship (slash or friendship) that Fraser has with one of the Rays, in favor of Fraser's relationship (usually slash) with the other Ray. That makes me sad, because I strongly believe that Fraser loves BOTH of the Rays, and that was actually demonstrated in the series canon. I can cite examples of actions that Fraser does for both Rays that demonstrate his affection for them.
In fanfic, we can decide if the love is slash or not, but slash with one character shouldn't diminish the loving friendship with the other character. And I also think that the Rays would make an effort to at least be friends for Fraser's sake, because they both love Fraser and want him to be happy.
Plus, what can I say - I'm a sentimental sucker for stories about men and their dogs, and particularly about men and their cats! My own DH regularly cuddles with our two cats and makes kissy noises at them. I get all mushy at men doing that, which is why I love RayV in your story.
