Why this must be read:
I'm not usually a Daredevil reader. But this fic is so beautiful, and so spot-on for both characters, that it caught my attention and kept it until the last sentence. The descriptions (and consequences) of Matt's powers are especially perfect, and Danny Rand is woven into the story seamlessly. While the fic references a lot of Marvel canon -- Daredevil comics from a few years back especially, with a smattering of Iron Fist and Alias -- those references serve to deepen the atmosphere and emotions of the story rather than to confuse unfamiliar readers. And the slash, while there (with this pairing and implied others) is subtle and emotional, proving that fic doesn't have to be smutty to be effective. This is simply a fic about two lost, lonely souls spending an evening together, with the comfort of beer and friendship, and it's fantastic.
Maybe all of that is just. What he deserves. You'd think Lady J. herself would cut him a break, some kind of blind solidarity, but she's probably pissed at him for not leaving everything in the courtroom in the first place. For that matter, God's probably not pleased with him, either. Vengeance isn't Matt Murdock's, after all. Vengeance isn't for him to deal out in a devil costume.
