Quite apart from the hotness factor, which really can’t be ignored, this fic is as full of history and emotion and life as Derek and Sarah themselves. Everything is there, from the prickliness of their relationship to Sarah’s need to make pancakes to get herself back into her proper headspace.

So many secrets in this house. He's sure as hell got his and he respects the need for them. But the keeping of this one - who Kyle was to her and John - he didn't realize it was eating him until today. He waits all day for someone in the house to say Kyle's name, but no one does and the silence just makes him madder and madder. Looking at John over dinner and wondering how it is she thinks he doesn't see Kyle every time he looks at John makes him want to hit something.
