Why this must be read: What a fantastic take on a post-apocalyptic zombie-filled world this is, fusing the characters of Merlin with the premise of 28 Days Later. It's long, action-packed, often violent, but with wonderful characterisations and a gorgeous love story at its heart. I didn't expect to like this, but to my surprise I found myself loving it, and if you give it a chance, I think you will too.
