Death Becomes Him by Dori (unrated, but I give it an R)
Fandom: Oz
Pairing: none - references to Beecher/Keller
Author on LJ:
callmerizzo
Author website: Strange bedfellows
Why this must be read:
Looking for happy endings? Dude, you are watching the wrong show. I'm fascinated with what happened to those left behind when Oz finished up for good and what the consequences of the past six years have been for them. This is a fine example of speculative futurefic addressing that very issue with regard to the fate of one Tobias Beecher. Also, it scared the bejesus out of me, which is always good.
Post-"Exuent Omnes", Beecher's tenuous grip on sanity is under serious pressure as he's left alone with his ghosts. This is an unsettling piece, but is nevertheless brilliant, inventive, chilling and utterly plausible. Also, it scared the bejesus out of me, which is always good.
Death Becomes Him
Be warned - there's spoilers here for the entire run of the show.
