Why this must be read: I'm one of those few people who has issues with how the show ended. On some levels, I love love love the ending and couldn't be happier. On others --- a world of no. This story is one of a certain subsection of LoMfic that makes me feel a whole lot better about canon. It portrays, in fact, the canon I choose to believe. This is Sam 'back home' rethinking his views on the world. It's the audience seeing exactly why he no longer fits. The writing is short, sharp and beautiful. And it feels and sounds exactly like Sam.
The clothes left for him are identical to all his clothes in 2006. Sensible suit, professional. He feels shorter -- flat shoes, of course -- jacket too wide at the shoulders, tie strangely restricting. The clothes fit all wrong. Sam's skin fits all wrong.
