Why this must be read:
Lana is an amazing author. Anything written by her should be read, period. That said, this fic is particularly special because it is a blend of her original vampire universe and Heroes. Yes, today's rec is a Vampire AU. Fandom has several great ones, and so I had to share at least one. In this AU, the Company deals with the infection that gives rise to Vampires, Peter is newly changed, and Sylar is still Patient Zero, a Vampire who prefers to prey on his own kind.
Peter clutched at himself desperately, trying to find a way out of the nightmare. This place stank of disinfectant and sickness. He hurt, everywhere, and someone must have injected him with acid because his veins burned, his bones ached, and his jaw… His upper jaw was a white-hot band of fire; he probed the back of his gum with his tongue, trying to find a cause. Startled, he realised he had a tooth missing, no, not one, six. Three to each side of his central incisors. What the hell is wrong with me? The sheet felt too scratchy against his skin, maybe he’d been drugged, given something that increased his senses, because everything was, too much. Too loud, too scratchy, too smelly, too bright. He tried to open his eyes and nearly screamed as the light hit his retinas.
