Why This Must Be Read: I've recced a lot of angst this month, so I thought I'd shake it up by reccing one of my favourite feel good fics. Postcards from Home is a post-S2 AU in which Mohinder takes Molly back home to India for a vacation. Away from the Company and the general fast pace of life in NYC, the ramifications of everything that Mohinder's experienced thus far start to weigh on him (I love a fic where characters have to reflect on what they've done!). Just when he's getting a bit too introspective, he starts receiving postcards from Elle, and so starts a sweet, charming, epistolary friendship.
This is a heart-warming fic about two people who don't really have any friends, and who aren't really sure how to make friends, finding each other and awkwardly muddling through. Molly's on hand to provide some home truths in that blunt way that only children can. This fic is adorable and a guaranteed pick me up.
Excerpt:
He mulled for a moment over how to sign it. When she wasn’t calling him “doc” she usually called him Suresh. That would do, given that he really ought to keep things professional, just in case. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Molly piling up the things she wanted him to purchase; she was surely on her way back to him, so he needed to hurry.
