allyndra, and I'm back to drive the Buffy van exactly one year after my last turn. It's been a little while since there's been much slash in these parts, so let's fix that! I'm going to start out the month with some stories that I was surprised hadn't been recced here before.
Fandom: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER/ANGEL
Pairing: Spike/Xander (Buffy/Angel, Wesley/Gunn, Willow/Tara, Larry/Andrew, Riley/Forrest/Graham, Faith/Doyle)

Why this must be read:
I held off on reading this for a long time, just because I don't care for pairing name-smooshes. If you feel that way, let me urge you to get past the word 'Spander' and give this a try. It's a fun, heavily populated AU in which the Buffy and Angel characters are competing in the Tour de France. Yes, you read that right - the Tour de France. You know you want to read it just for that premise! Adding to the genius insanity of the premise, the character voices are bright and clear, the situation is entertaining, and the relationships develop in an organic way. There's some great romantic chemistry, but I especially adore the friendships in this fic.
Just like any Thursday night … Gunn was there, ready to show the world that there was another sport that a brother could excel in. Faith was there for the challenge and so was Buffy and not even Xander could tell if they were competing against the other teams as much as they were competing against each other. Graham and Larry were off by the dartboards. After they got their asses handed to them for the fifth time, one of them would start talking about how only football was a real sport.
Except here no one would disagree violently in favor of basketball. Instead, there'd be an argument over what exactly football was and wasn't, and the word soccer would start another fight, and it would all be in broken in English and French. So maybe not like any other Thursday night.
