In This Together by Rubywisp (NC-17)
Fandom: BTVS
Pairing: Spike/Xander
Author on LJ:
rubywisp/
up_your_peach
Author Website: Wackiness Ensues
Spoilers: Up to and including "Hell's Bells" (Season 6, Ep. 15), AU after that
Why this must be read:
I am recommending In This Together, the sequel to a story by Rubywisp; it's another Spike/Xander story, but it's not as dark as Modus Vivendi by wiseacress, my first S/X rec. The story begins in Belonging (R), which you need to read first. Why this story? It features the snarky dialogue characteristic of canon Spike/Xander interaction, and it takes the scenario of what would happen if a vampire and a human got together seriously. Rubywisp deals with the negative aspects of being with a vampire that Xander would have to face, rather than doing the typical thing in a S/X story, which is the author glossing over the probable reaction of Buffy and the Scoobies and/or portraying the relationship as romantic. Her Spike is still an evil git, rather than a devoted boyfriend who just happens to be a vampire.
