Are you thinking of JADFE ("James and Darkangel's Forever Erotica")? :-)

I actually didn't know until this year -- way out here in 2009! -- that JADFE started in a dispute over slash on fkfic-l. Good gravy. JADFE was the all-types adult/erotica list when I came into the fandom, and I was never subscribed to it, so I just took for granted that it had begun for the purpose of being what it had become by then. batdina and leela_cat explained that no, at the time, they wouldn't allow any homosexual depictions on the main fiction list, regardless of rating. I was... taken aback, both that it had been that way, and that somehow I'd never picked up that piece of history, through everything.
