Hello, my name is pronker, piloting the Star Wars van for January. This month's theme is surprising stories, ones that are unusual in pairing or theme, or plot, just about anything that is off-beat. But in a nice way.

Why this must be read:
Surprisingly, this first stop for the van is a first effort in this fandom, and what a debut! This story builds mood, characters are spot on, and an undercurrent of something else runs through the entire story. I'm not sure what to call it, maybe it's the tantalizing repression by both Master and Padawan, but the excellent and sensual prose leads the reader along and you don't know exactly how this will end. It does end satisfactorily, most pleasing to any Ani/Obi reader, and it has one of the best uses of the Master/Padawan bond ever, plus an entirely plausible kink that has Obi-Wan wrapped around its little finger. A real find to start the month and the year with.
