Fire and Ice by Yesac (T)
Fandom: STAR WARS
Pairing: Vader/Padme
Length: 106037 words
Author on LJ: I don't think she has one.
Author's website: FFN profile
Why this story must be read:
The posting guidelines encourage noting 'recurring themes,' and what could be more recurring than a rewrite of Revenge of the Sith? Anakin doesn't Turn, Luke and Leia show up somehow to save the day, Obi-Wan Turns as well ... the AU possibilities are endless. Yesac has written a thoroughly enthralling version of the events should Anakin have won the duel on Mustafar, with intriguing twists. Obi-Wan is injured, instead, and Anakin turns into a Vader with his hubris intact, with his desire for a family intact, a family under his paternal protection and his paternal guidance to fit themselves in his new empire. Hmmm. Good luck on that one, Vader. This story takes all the emotional overtones of the characters and writes them out to a satisfying degree. It has a Luke and Leia as age-appropriate as anyone could write them, too.
