Why this must be read: The relationship between Sandra and her daughter Emily is one of my favorite parts of the movie, and I love this fic about them so much. It's about Emily's first impressions on moving to Wilby, and we see Sandra's complicated relationship to Wilby through Emily's eyes. Duck is also in the story, and Emily is all "oh-no-it's-all-going-to-go-wrong-again" about him and Sandra. I love knowing that that part, at least, is not going to go wrong. Also, there's a story about a pelican that I totally love.
This story is also available as a lovely podfic read bymalnpudl. If you're noticing that a lot of the stories I rec are recorded as podfics, that's because I often discover stories that way.
