Why this must be read:
I really love the concept of the story, and the execution. It manages to cast an intriguing light on canon. What struck me the most though was the amount of characterization
cupidsbow managed to give a character that is barely acknowledged in canon. A truly chilling piece of science fiction.
Mainframe's makers built/grew/programmed her on a planet far from Earth, in every meaningful dimension: spatially, temporally, psychologically. Objectively speaking, her makers were hate-mongers. (She has heard some argue that all humans are too, but she has little patience with such illogical assertions.)
Mainframe considers herself a political refugee.
