"Comfortable" and "Latency" by Shrift (NC-17)
Fandom: Angel: the Series
Stories: Comfortable and Latency
Pairing: Wesley/Gunn
Author on LJ: http://shrift.livejournal.com/
Author Website: Shrift's Fanfiction
Why these must be read: All of Shrift's Angel fanfiction is very much worth a read, but these are the two that I find myself re-reading most often.
Wesley/Gunn is my OTP4evaomg, so it may well be that I'm biased there. *g*
Both of these stories are witty, sweet, and hot with perfectly in-character dialogue. They also fit into canon seemlessly before going AU, and thus can be thought of as "what would have happened if the show was just a tiiiny bit gayer."
This pairing is also the closest to what I think of as a 'typical' slash pairing: they have the homoerotic buddy-cop vibe that you'd find on cop shows like The Sentinel or Starsky and Hutch, so if you're a slasher who's looking for a way into Angel fandom I would recommend these as a good starting point.
Now, an example of the wonderful humor of these stories:
Angel slid into the booth next to Cordelia. "Hi. Sorry I'm late."
"Wesley's a bisexual," she announced.
Angel blinked. "Okay."
On the other side of the booth, Wesley groaned and hid his face in his hands.
Angel shifted after a moment and said, "We don't have to throw a party or anything, do we?"
