Author Website: First We Show Up - Then We See What Happens
Why this must be read: This is elegant and evocative and just a little strange, like the show. It manages to be beautiful and creepy in equal measure as we see Gene trying to bring Sam back from the brink of oblivion through Sam's drug-addled and crazed eyes. It makes excellent use of nursery rhymes and songs to add an eerieness that works counterpoint to blistering heat. Written for Porn Battle, this is a lyrical piece that may technically be 'plot, what plot?', but really, really isn't.
"Send the King's horses, guv." Sam's lips are rubber, not glue. "They need to put me back together."
"They don't do house calls, Humpty. Shit. What did they give you? You've got black holes where your eyes are supposed to be."
