This is a rec I'm making even though I'd wish the ending was a hair stronger.
Kaylee is the ship's - and the crew's - heart - a shining sun in the darkness of space, amid the grim and the dust. Nobody gets to make Kaylee cry.
So "Objects in Space", which did, delighted me muchly.
This is a dark, sharp examination of what frightens Kaylee. And who. It's not always what you'd expect.
