Three Arguments Against Suicide by Afrai (K+)

Fandom: HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY
Pairing: Arthur/Ford if you squint
Length: 700
Author on LJ: unknown
Author Website: their website, which has a fic index
Why this must be read:

I’m not really a fan of slash in this fandom for the simple reason that I just can’t see it happening. But every now and then, a fic comes along and plays with the ideas of sexuality on a larger scale than Earth as a whole can properly fathom.

In a way, this is one of those fics. Set sometime between the end of Life, et al and the beginning of So Long etc, it’s a brief little look at Arthur’s state of mind whilst on prehistoric Earth, and Ford’s efforts to keep him from doing something monumentally stupid.

Oh wow, I haven't thought about Afari's work in ages... love this piece. :)

Good rec. <3 And further reason I need a HHGttG icon.

I bought a handful of icon spots and I'm really tempted to snag your Dixon icon... but what I really want is a Dixon & Jones shot. Because I'm a sad, sad, little tinhat.

Making a chintzy crop job one until I find one of them together. Hah. Or, you know... learn how to use a proper image editing program through osmosis or something.

!!!

Eee!

*snatch, grab, grope, upload, adore*

<3 I feel spoiled. Thank you, hon. I will use it with honor.

Also, I totally lied and am swiping the tea icon. Because it is made of awesome and really makes me want some boiled leaves with cow juice.

It has been one of my favorites and I completely forgot that you made it.

Seriously great timing, great quote... very awesome.

*snerk* Damn it I don't have time to let that turn into an idea, I really don't. Hah.

*stomps bunnies*

Seriously, any time I have that whole deadline thing in the picture and a thousand things to get done... my brain goes - but this sounds interesting -

OMFG. Don't even get me started on Yuletide.

I so had a great idea - I even wrote about 1000 words. Then I realized the whole premise was OOC for the characters - and yet totally IC if I was writing a Big Bang Theory fic. So I'm at like... negative half a fic.

These things always happen to me! Why? Why?? It could be worse, though. At least it was something.

I'm supposed to be writing tonight. You can clearly see that's going well...

I keep telling myself I'll just refresh my inbox one more time... and check my google reader... and LJ... and then do it again.

I've got nothing at this point. And, being a secret, I can't even bounce ideas off someone familiar with the fandom because nobody I know is. *head desk*

And on a totally unrelated thought (hey, I just noticed I threadjacked a thread you started this time so nobody else gets spammed with comments! Yay!) that icon really makes Simon look like Dave Foley circa Kids In The Hall era.

[identity profile] afullmargin.livejournal.com 2010-12-03 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
It really is. :( Particularly when everyone who requests a fandom that small usually knows everyone else who is in it and well... yeah, not known for being tight-lipped.

Oh dearie. Get thee to KITH. Seriously, that show made my adolescence.

And you're totally thinking Foley. :) He makes the prettiest bitchy prostitute.

And now. That image. You know it.

Mine has a small, but very insular fandom. I think a lot of the smaller Brit fandoms are like that though - lots of crossover with other fandoms that may or may not be simiar.

For example I know a lovely gal who shares the following fandoms with me: Hot Fuzz (and to a lesser extent Shaun and the RPS stuff), Top Gear, QI, The IT Crowd, Black Books, and Mighty Boosh (probably others I'm forgetting also). Where do we meet? Fanficrants. Of course. Hah. We both have the same 'ships and yet - never clicked when there actually were posts in the relevant communities.

Of course, I am not in groups for several of these for various reasons I keep to myself as they make me look really bitchy.

Ahh, sketch comedy doesn't really jive with everyone - and they had a pretty different style even for sketch comedy. :P

I'll keep them all to m'self then. Meh. :P

Oooh yes. I have... issues... with Top Gear fandom - I'll leave it at that.

I'm sure I'll end up in Sherlock fandom eventually. Just probably wait until it dies down a bit.

Ooooh - yes. The only era of SNL I can stomach anymore. Mmmm.
