Diaspora by LoneGunGuy (PG)

Why this must be read: You often hear fans praise a fic by saying it's so good it should have been an episode. Diaspora is actually better than that. It's the episode "Kaddish" should have been. It blends Jewish history and culture with an x-file, and does so with grace, black humor, and suspense.

Diaspora is written in script format, and even in that spartan form, LoneGunGuy gets so much detail and atmosphere into the story that you can see and hear it, as clearly as if you were actually watching it. I'm not a fan of fics written as scripts, but this one doesn't suffer from the structure. The story is so compelling that the format nearly becomes invisible.

Faintly -- so faintly that it might almost be a trick of the imagination -- the soft regular TICKING of a metronome slices through the darkness.

LoneGunGuy's website only has one of his stories on it, and the rest are scattered far and wide across the internet. The X-Files archive Gossamer still has his fic up, but they don't allow direct linking so we're going to have to do this the hard way.

LoneGunGuy's fic is on this page. Scroll waaaay down. Trust me, Diaspora is worth the trouble.
