Why this must be read:
This is a long, plotty, well-paced fic in which the author demonstrates incredible thoughtfulness in characterization, especially with Bonnie. Bonnie/Damon (or "Bamon" if you like name smushes) can be a difficult pairing to write, due in part to Damon's homicidal tendencies and Bonnie's (well-justified) issues with that. The author doesn't brush these aside, instead delving into Bonnie's headspace, moral framework, and magical legacy. It's a road trip fic, so other characters from the series play a much smaller role, but the scenes we do have with them are both IC and demonstrate the variety of relationships involved. A nice job is also done with some original characters, including one that I actually get quite attached to.

Also important: fight scenes I can actually follow (I generally have difficulty with this in writing) and very hot sex.
