Christmas Past by Cybel (PG-13)

Hi there! I'm [livejournal.com profile] snycock , and I'll be taking the TS van out for a spin in March.

Actually, I'm going to reach for the keys to the F150 first. We've been talking, in the weekly TS chats, about the early days of the fandom, and that's gotten me interested in some of the older stories, especially ones that were written before those major canon events that TS fans all know and love. So I've been browsing around, trying to read some of the very earliest stories posted, and am planning to bring you some blasts from the past along with more recent stuff.

Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Length: 20k
Author on LJ:  [livejournal.com profile] cybel
Author Website: Cybel's fics on 852
Why this must be read:

This story was posted early in the second season, and it posits a very different backstory for Jim's parents than what came to be. Plus it's got great dialogue and a little hurt and comfort on both sides.

I was just sent this way by [livejournal.com profile] laurie_ky, and I'm so pleased by your rec! Hell, I didn't even know these stories were online much less still being read!

Anyway, thank you again. You've made my day. :-)

I finally got a chance to read and enjoy this. An interesting take on why the Jim we see in canon might feel so deeply yet hide things so well. Thanks for the story, even though you wrote it many years ago.

and what a pleasant surprise to realize you are the cybel who's heavily involved in podficcing. I've just started getting into them in the past few months and really enjoying it. Thanks for your additional contribution to fandom.

Thank you!

Yes, I am cybel and have been since the late '70s. Makes me easy to find through time and cyberspace.

Bless podficcing and my decision to start compiling podbooks back in 2007. I had been inactive in fandom for almost 10 years at the time, and the podficcing community got me going again. :-)
