Why this must be read:
With the upcoming Marvel movies of popular interest, a story about the stalwart Captain America and his lover prove that strength comes in many forms. Tony has the iron fortitude of an Iron Man when it comes to certain things, but not when it comes to safeguarding his health. Steve is grieved to leave their life together, yet his reasoning is sound: "It's like passive-aggressive suicide and I can't watch you do this to yourself." With two such strong characters, something in the relationship will show the strain and it just happens to be plain-spoken Steve who comes out with the truth behind the (hopefully temporary) breakup. There's the auditory touch of that final click of the closing door as someone walks out of your life that I could almost hear that made me shudder.
