This is an interesting coda to 1x07, provides a wonderful perspective on Gene's protectiveness towards his team. Shy, forlorn Chris is incredibly endearing and Gene's affection for him really shines through.

He even needed him bringing round the soddin’ biscuits, because when Chris wasn’t doing any of these things there was no one else to do them, and no antidote to Ray’s arrogance and Sam’s madness, and no silver lining on the cloud that hung over the station.
