Why this must be read: This is the Merlin/Morgana hate!sex fic that S3 was begging for. This is Morgana, arrogant, haughty, reveling in her power, "a year later and a year darker." This is Merlin, confused, watchful, trying desperately to keep all the secrets he's keeping straight in his head. This is how the two of them come together, united in mutual distrust, trying to thwart each other at every turn while also reveling in their nights together. This is Season 3 Merlin/Morgana in all its twistedness and murkiness and uncertainty, as it's meant to be.
He stares at her, unable to say anything, and slowly the corners of her mouth lift again. She gives him a considering look before pulling her arm easily away from his grasp and sliding away. It's not fair, Merlin thinks, that after defeating her last night, after making such threats, after looming over her with all his certainty in his eyes, he should find it so hard to catch his breath, yet again.
