Why this must be read: This is a story that, for me, is my perfect representation of a non-angsty Sam/Gene story. There's a lot of banter, a delightful current of UST and just the right amount of snark. This also features one of my favourite tropes; Sam and Gene eating a dinner that Sam has cooked.
"Find yourself scrimping much?"
"The lap of luxury doesn't come cheap," Sam agreed.
Gene willed himself not to gape at the wallpaper, but the carpet couldn't be avoided. "Your flat is horrible."
"The lap of horrible luxury."
