Why this must be read:

The last thing you steal is her ring, an amethyst in a silver band with delicate vines carved around the ring, endless. Though, when you hold it in your hand or twist it, idly, on your thumb, you wonder if it counts as stealing if the owner's ghost tells you to take something.

I like this fic because it's a pairing that me and like five other people quietly cheer on, and on top of that it's gen. It's Dawn after Tara's death, a muted characterization that rings just a little bit more true than the one on screen. Tara's death on the show is so obscured by Willow's grief for her that everyone else is overshadowed because of that; it's nice to go back and flesh out that whole time.

I also have a mad love affair with the second person. Especially here, you feel as though you have a sharper look at things through Dawn's eyes. You feel more. Even as short as this is, you get the impact of Dawn's grief.
