Why this must be read: It’s a Jim POV story – *always* a plus!

Richard Burgi, on reflecting his role as the character Jim Ellison, said that he played a guy who had a blessing and a curse. This short story explores that double-edged sword through Jim’s eyes. It starts off with Jim having a zone in Simon’s office. He’s sulky and frustrated and you can appreciate his feelings with this passage:

He tried to pretend this stuff didn't bother him -- the zones, the freakouts -- but it did. He hated how lost it made him feel. It was his *job* to protect the people of this city. Unless the people had recently gotten their nails done or were wearing a shirt with reflective paint, and then he was usually too busy getting pulled out of oncoming traffic to deal with their problems.

Poor Jim. Luckily he *does* have an anthropologist to help him figure things out and provide a very satisfactory solution. Enjoy.
