Absolute Power by Russet McMillan (R)

Fandom:THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Blair Sandburg/Original Male Character
Length: 3000 words
Author on LJ: Unknown

Why this must be read:

One of the tropes in Sentinel fandom is that sometimes heightened senses make Jim more vulnerable. This story shows us just how ruthlessly Blair understands that.

When a middle-eastern terrorist shows up in Cascade, it turns out he's a sentinel with his own ideas on how to protect his people. Lured into a trap and deliberately zoned, Jim is helpless and Blair has to save him.

"You won. Like you said, his life is forfeit. And I'm forfeit. I'm yours now." I went smoothly to my knees and bowed my head, just a few feet from Jim's motionless figure. God, I hope he can't hear this, I was thinking.

There was a pause of a few seconds; I had Malik intrigued. "What would I want with you?" he asked.

"You're a Sentinel. I'm a Guide. I can help you."

"You weren't much help to this man."

Since that was exactly what I had been thinking, it took me a few seconds to come up with the right response. "Well . . . it wasn't my place to interfere in the combat between two Sentinels. Now that it's over, I belong to the winner."

thanks for reccing this oldie. One of my favorites! I love how it takes the same old tired trope and uses it to blairs advantage to help jim.

One thing I ALWAYS wished for was a sequel. You KNOW it was begging for a sequel. Did jim know what happened in the warehouse? I cant imagine he would be TOO pleased either way with all his hangups etc.

what happens when they go home?
=)
