Ask-Tell-Pursue by Executrix (R)
Fandom: BLAKE'S 7
Pairing: Avon/Travis
Author on LJ:
executrix
Author Website:
Why this must be read:
Executrix's take on the characters is wildly different from most people's, yet still manages to convince while you're reading the story. This one is a pre-series encounter between Avon and Travis, which explains quite a lot about Avon's enthusiasm for killing Travis during the course of the series. There's some lovely characterisation of Travis here, including his pragmatic response when he realises that Avon is fascinated for all the right reasons by his prosthetics:
"It's beautiful," Avon said. "Almost a kind of poetry, really. To be able to build something that can do anything, yet is freed from the constraints of the organic."
Brilliant, Travis thought. All I have to do is get a list of bent engineers--they must have one, back at headquarters--and I'll never have to frig myself again.
