Lambs to the Slaughter by Dark Nascent (R)

Fandom: THE X-FILES
Pairing: Mulder/Scully friendship/UST
Length: ~5000 words
Warning: Character death. Lots of it. And how.

Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Flywoman and Nascent Fanfiction (please scroll down)

Why this must be read:

Nascent was one of my first friends in the fandom, and quickly became my mutual beta, collaborator, and even roommate on Geocities. She is justly famed for her novel-length casefics, including Theory and Practice, which has already been recced here on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van. But this piece, "Lambs to the Slaughter," is the first in her Barnyard series, a hilarious mixture of philosophy, black humor, and Mulder/Scully UST, appropriately penned under the "Dark Nascent" moniker. Read it and weep. Or laugh. Whatever.

I love Nascent, regular and Dark. When I was new to the fandom, I spent I don't know even know how many hours searching for her fic on alt.tv.x-files.creative. Thank heavens for the Wayback Machine!

All of her Barnyard stories are a hoot.

Oh, that's so nice to hear.

"Pillar of Salt" was recced here, too, back in the day, though not by me, of course. That was the first story of hers that I'd seen but I first heard her user name from reading other people's stories, Justin Glasser is the first name that comes to mind.
