FIC: A Girl Made From Sky by Doyle (PG)

Why this must be read:

The girl on the cloud shivered, and pulled a length of cumulonimbus around herself. She was a blonde, a redhead, a brunette, she had hair that was raven-black and clipped short; she was about fourteen, about ten, a grown woman, about eleven-years-and-one-hundred-forty-two days; sometimes she was a boy. She was only a person in potentia, and this crisis of identity wasn’t unusual in the unborn.

There aren't words for how much I love this story. Or rather, there are, but there aren't good ones. I adore Dawn, I pretty much always have, with her shiny shiny hair and her loud, adolescent "get outs!" Can't help it. This it an intersection between Key-Dawn and the Cheeseman from Restless, and I don't know how Doyle conceived this but I'm so glad she did.

There's a sort of gently rising action, nothing urgent or hurried about this story. Told from the Cheeseman's perspective in shadowy third-person omniscient dream-talk, this is the kind of thing I love to read and write. It's a smashing story.
