In the comics, it was a publicity stunt. This story explores the ramifications if it wasn't... and if Hank had a secondary mutation where he put off "pet-me" pheremones. This is a gorgeous story about transformation, both of self and of expectations, and how friendship can be unwavering even in the face of the unexpected. Highly recommended!
