Why this must be read: Because everyone loves a good AU! This one is a lot of fun and features a lot of the reasons why I love Big Time Rush -- by which I mean lots of scheming, on the parts of both the goodguys and the badguys. And I particularly wanted to include this one because the chief antagonist is Mercedes Griffin, who's only a bit character on the show, but is incredibly fun and one of my very favorites. And as it happens her mean girl persona translates perfectly from canon into a college AU. So without further ado, shenanigans! Sorority parties! Drunken hookups!

It all starts like this: Mercedes Griffin, the richest, bitchiest, most obnoxious, most absolutely-lacking-in-any-redeeming-qualities-whatsoever mean girl on the entire Palmwoods University campus, or at least among the ones that Logan Mitchell's met so far (he does his best, as a general rule, to avoid anyone who falls under the classification of "bitchy" and "obnoxious," or, for that matter, "female"), comes bounding up to him outside the hall after his 9:45 planetary sciences lecture with a look on her face that's one party that's one part enthusiastic, one part devious, and three parts utterly terrifying.

"Hi, Logie," she says, blinding-white smile unleashed, perk turned up to eleven, and Logan can't do much but gawk at the manicured hand that's now resting flirtatiously on his arm and try to piece together a coherent string of words.

"Um, hi, yes, can I help you?" he stammers, and he'd been pretty sure two minutes ago that Mercedes had no idea he existed, let alone sat in the row behind her three days a week or shared a Thursday morning lab, let alone actually had a name.

"So, I've decided to make you my new boyfriend," she says, giggling and charging full steam ahead with her pronouncement before Logan can get a flabbergasted word in edgewise, "which means that you'll be coming with me to our big sorority party on Friday night. So I'll need you to look nice – how about that cute sweater vest you were wearing in class on Monday? – and be there at eight sharp. Don't keep me waiting." She flips her hair and flounces on her heels away from him in satisfaction.

"Oh, and you'd better bring me something," she stops and turns back to him, hand on her hip. "A diamond bracelet would be nice, but I'll let you off the hook since it's our first date and just let you buy me roses. As long as you're saving up for our one-month anniversary."

She's already down the hall and gone before Logan's jaw even elevates enough to respond.
