What to believe by Actizera (PG-13... I'm not good at rating)

Hi, I'm Alinewrites and I'll be handling the Oz recs for this month (oh, June already? lol). It's a great pleasure because this fandom has some very talented writers and the show is so good it's a pleasure to write about it.
I'll try to rec as well canon fics and A/U fics because Oz has a lot of both.

Let's start with a canon one.

Fandom: OZ
PairingTobias Beecher/Chris Keller
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] actizera
Author Website: http://actizera.popullus.net/ but the story isn't archived there yet.

Why this must be read: This story is probably one of the best I read in a long time. You have to read it because the characterization is *perfect*; both characters are absolutely true to themselves. The writing is awesome and flawless. The story is short but tells so much... it's about loving each other and fearing each other and trust (or not) and the issues the characters keep having all along the show. There's something about a newspaper... I'm sure you'll write the author just to *know* about it. A lot of things are suggested rather than shown and therefore it is so much better than just the plain exhibition of facts... And the way the story's built is very original.

"Toby has known for a long time how brilliant a liar Chris can be. He has, after all, painfully intimate knowledge of his skill in that area. In fact, it took months before he was convinced that Chris was capable of telling anything but a lie.

Even now, his certainty of Chris’s honesty usually falls somewhere short of 100%. Maybe the lies are smaller, a voice in the back of his mind tells him. Maybe they aren’t meant to hurt you."

(This fic was written for secret_ids which is a challenge: 14 Oz fic-writers anonymously wrote a fiction and the game consisted in guessing who'd written what)

Go read it! It's not only excellent fan-fiction, it's a writing lesson too.
