Why this must be read: A long time ago in a galaxy far away ... no, it's not a Star Wars crossover, it's better! The Inception team is hired to extract information from a huge Star Wars fan, and what could be cooler than getting to play parts from the movie (the original movies *cough*) in a dream? Except because it's a dream, the team plays a bit fast and loose with characterization, dialogue, plot, etc. What results is a hilarious parody of Star Wars with Eames as Han Solo, Dom Cobb as Darth Vader (because he's the only one who's a father, after all), Ariadne as Princess Leia, Yusuf as someone who's not supposed to be in the original film, and Arthur as ... well, not C-3PO, much to Eames' chagrin.

The team's relying on the fact that a lot can be explained away by it being a dream, but no one quite anticipated things like trying to get information out of a droid (what do all those buttons do?), trying to explain away Darth Vader's sudden appearance on the Millennium Falcon, or that Arthur would kind of like being swung across a trench by Eames (a la Prince Leia).

If you love the original trilogy, you'll love this, plain and simple. It's clear that the author loves the films as much as she loves the characters from Inception. May the Force be with you.

Eames wants to be Han Solo.

Of course he does.

Solo is the obvious choice if he can’t be Luke, but Arthur’s not about to fight over something so ridiculous, so he lets Eames have it.

Yusuf and Cobb, on the other hand, have been bickering for half an hour over who gets to be Darth Vader.

“Why would you even want to be Vader?” Cobb asks, proving the worth of his undergrad psych degree through a stunning display of reverse psychology. “He’s barely even in the first one. Not that Luke sees, anyway.”

“Why would
you want to be him, then?”

“Look, ‘vader’ means ‘father,’ ok? I’m the only father here, so clearly—”

“I’m not going to be the bloody
wookiee, Cobb.”

“You could be Obi-Wan,” Ariadne interrupts, magnanimous in her certainty of the Princess Leia role.

Yusuf pauses, considering.

“I suppose,” he says finally.

That settled, attention swings to Arthur, the only one left without a set character. Eames has been throwing out increasingly ridiculous suggestions all day, starting with Grand Moff Tarkin and working his way down to, just now, “that tentacle monster in the rubbish compactor.”

“Or, oh!” Eames snaps his fingers and leans forward excitedly in his chair. “C-3PO! It’s
perfect!”

Arthur can feel a muscle in his jaw clench involuntarily. “No.”

“But it really is just a perfect fit: prim, fussy, absolutely no fun.” Eames ticks off the characteristics as he lists them.

Fussy?” Arthur bites viciously at the inside of his cheek and forces himself to turn away from Eames’s stupid smug little grin, to keep his mind on the job. “I’ll be an anonymous Imperial officer,” he says, effectively ending the conversation. “That way, I can go wherever I need to without arousing suspicion.”

Cobb and Yusuf nod in approval, but out of the corner of his eye, Arthur can see Eames miming C-3PO’s distinctive walk at Ariadne.
