For those familiar with the world, here's a story almost as dense as the mini and just as sharp.jesswinchester8 takes canon and tweaks it slightly, having Nate wounded at the bridge at Al Muwaffaqiyah. We see it through Brad's POV, with an utterly perfect internal monologue, full of military jargon and bitter diatribes and Brad's hopes, just underneath. The story brilliantly shows us Brad's repression, as he's realizing how repressed he is, all amidst Nate's failing idealism. It's 10k that takes place in a timespan of 21 minutes. It is fucking dense. But so worth it for its gorgeous use of language and its incisive looks at Nate, Ray, Doc, Gunny, and above all, Brad.

Nate. Not the LT. Not Sir. Nate. Fuck.
