Why this must be read: This is one of those clever fics that turns a trope on its head and makes you reconsider how you think about it. I love vampire fic in general, and so I was incredibly pleased when
slyreflection suggested this one to me. It's emotional and raw and just amazing.
tyrannicides is an amazing writer, and this piece really highlights why for me. She's able to something original and moving and make you feel for the characters.

There are lots of reasons why Iker works at a hospital.
1.) Flexible hours. Extra money for the midnight shift. That's always a plus.
2.) Plenty of blood bags. AB is his favorite.
(It's not that Iker has moral qualms, it's just that it's a lot of effort to get close enough to people to take just a little bit, and living that way would mean he has to go to clubs or bars all the time. It would mean being social. It's not that Iker's anti-social. He just doesn't particularly like socializing much. Not in those settings, anyways.)
