Why this must be read:
This series of stories moves through canon to post-TV, stitching together a series of extremely complex relationships. Daniel adores Sam but is in love with Jack; Jack's some way in love with both of them but has set aside his relationship with Sam and finds any sort of open acknowledgement of his relationship with Daniel almost impossible -- even to themselves. It's painful and twisty and rings very true to what we know.

I particularly like the way that Daniel and Jack constantly lock themselves into a borderline snotty adversarial relationship that's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, I like the characterisation of Jack -- not just because of his snarky narrative voice, but also because of all the things he doesn't express, and I want to cheer for the very practical solution Sam finds in the end.

(1) Sleeping Arrangements
Jack's never liked those logic problems with the foxes and the geese and the boats
(2) Seize the Day
It's still a bad idea, but one day Jack finds he doesn't care anymore.
(3) Unspoken
There's only so far that either of them can bend before they break.
(This one is, I think, the best)
(4) Foxes, Geese, Boats
It's the damn logic problems again. Jack still hates those.
(5) Audacity
There's a time to seize the day
(… but this one is my favourite)
