Every Day I Write the Book by Draycevixen NC-17
Fandom: PERSON OF INTEREST
Pairing: Finch/Reese
Length: ~3000
Author on LJ:
draycevixen
Author Website: AO3
Why this must be read: "Reese's training requires him to know more about Finch." I will admit that this fic broke me a little, to say more than that I think would spoil it. Draycevixen is an author who knows the value of language, of nuance, and of gesture, whether that be writing the crackiest crack or skirting the darker edges of this fandom . She writes a Finch and Reese that can be readily identified, men very much marked by their experience.
This is part one of the Man with a Mission Series. I would strongly recommend you read both parts.
Extract
Reese isn’t always sure where his training ends and he begins, or even if anything of the man he was beforehand still exists. He wants to believe it does, wants to believe that Finch didn’t choose him just for his skill set, but then he's too much of a realist to waste much time wishing for the improbable.

Blimey I wasn't expecting this.
I try to write the characters as I see them in canon but I'm always aware that everyone's perception is different.
Thank you so much for the rec, I'm chuffed.

Thank you for the lovely comment.
I'm so pleased to know that you like it enough to reread it.

Again, that's really nice to hear. :D
I've never seen kindness as a weakness or in fact physical frailty as a weakness either. We've evolved past the point where having the biggest muscles makes you the alpha human.
We know nothing about him that points to weakness and look what he wrought with his own hands. It would have taken a certain amount of ruthlessness, at least the willingness to be ruthless for a good cause.
