Why this must be read:
In which an argument about Dickens leads to a Twitter scandal, broken bones, midnight conversations, and transatlantic longing.
(Or, an AU with Arthur and Merlin as moderately famous authors.)
One of my favourite modern day au’s. Arthur and Merlin are authors, and they have an auspicious meeting at a panel. Then they sit down for a drink and just instantly click. Arthur goes on his book tour and Merlin keeps him from feeling lonely, even though they're not physically together.
It’s not just all literary references and nerd-ery. This fic shows how stories and storytelling can really bring people together and connect them while they're living in their own isolated worlds. Merlin brings a little bit of light, perspective, and maybe a little literary magic to an Arthur who’s become a little isolated because of the life he leads, and doesn’t even realize he’s missing something in his life.
