Permanent Change - Jane Mailander (all)

A sunny Sunday morning (at least in this part of the world), and time to take the van out for a little spin. We start in Ireland, where Doyle has run into a bit of trouble, but we're soon back in London, where Doyle - and Bodie - has to deal with the repercussions of what could have been a very nasty affair...

Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS

Why this must be read: In places this is a very sweet story, but what I like about it is the concept, and the sly references to other ... things *g*. I enjoy Bodie's unexpected skill, for example, which has its roots (hee!) in fact, and the reference to a particular singer of the time had me giggling. The dialogue has great moments too - here, try this, a snippet when Doyle wants to know what's up with Bodie:

"Still haven't told me, Bodie."

Ray's RT crackled. "3.7, 4.5, report to Paddington station at once," Murphy snapped. "Hostage situation in progress. Ten children being held captive. Alpha One en route."

Oh thank GOD. Bodie fishtailed the Capri and screeched off toward the evildoers even as Doyle got his armaments in order.

So - go read and enjoy *g*
