Hi guys! I'm [livejournal.com profile] siren_mage and I'll be driving the Teen Wolf van this month. Although I do have something of an OTP, my personal motto when it comes to this fandom is SHIP ALL THE THINGS. And so ship all the things we shall. I've got a lot of non-Derek/Stiles recs for you in the flavor of femmeslash, slash, het, and maybe even some gen. There'll be some Derek/Stiles for you diehards as well so don't you fret. I hope you're as excited as I am and please enjoy the ride!

Fandom: TEEN WOLF
Pairing: Lydia Martin/Erica Reyes
Length: 6900+ words
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: AO3
Why this must be read: This is a story, first and foremost, about self discovery and coming of age. It's a story about friendship, specifically between teenage girls and even more specifically between three brilliant, beautiful, deadly young women navigating the new world they've been thrust into.

Set post-S2 (and AU to S3), this fic takes the time to explore Erica's motivations and fears and insecurities. It's a wonderful take on a character who, despite having great depths hinted at, was presented to us virtually one-note. It's especially fantastic because it doesn't go the obvious route, though beware some shades of dub-con in the interpretation of certain canon events.

In addition to being a great character-study, this fic embraces and celebrates female friendship in a way that's rarely seen in fandom. In fact, the boys are barely on the page and the author's take on them (and Derek in particular) is unique and suits the story well. Plus, there's an interesting and subtle exploration of ethnicity that adds depth not only to Erica's character, but to the narrative as a whole.

And while this is certainly a love story, it's a story about love in all its forms and that's what makes it at times bittersweet but always beautiful.
