Why this must be read:
It's not hard to imagine the scenario this short ficlet paints, that Chloe is used to people making assumptions about her based on her looks and has in return gotten used to exploiting that when it suits her. What I like about this is it takes a small moment from canon about her expected behaviour - the kind of behaviour that is only vaguely implied in canon once but the assumption of which in fannish circles does seem to often lead to slut shaming of her character sadly - and expands on it to show that kind of thing wasn't something she liked despite its usefulness, because it meant she has been subject to sexism of which she was inured to. It also highlights the decency in Nate as a character and how they were good together, an unusual angle to be explored as fandom doesn't have much happening for this pairing.
