Why this must be read:
So what do you do after the world ends? After the destruction has settled and you're picking up the pieces? This isn't a plotty story - Katie avoids clumsy exposition-heavy flashbacks to better concentrate on the characters now. They move through the crumbled landscape with familiarity, and so it feels natural to us, too, even though we don't know exactly what happened. SG-1 was scattered when the world ended (Jack: "Hell of a weekend to decide to take off for a vacation. 'Gosh, could you just push the apocalypse back a bit? I'm out of town this Saturday.'"), but now they're finding their way back to each other.
The last line is perfect - it feels like coming home.
